A parochial Christian School, LHS welcomes students of all faiths.
LHS provides a unique educational environment in which students are empowered to find identity, meaning and purpose for their lives in Christ while developing individual talents, skills and attitudes to achieve academically and make thoughtful Christian decisions. LHS is regionally and nationally accredited by the Lutheran Schools Accreditation Commission, which is recognized by the Commissioner of Education of the Texas Education Agency (TEA). LHS is a member of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS), the Independent Schools Association and the Association of Lutheran Secondary Schools (ALSS).
Students excel in every measure of academic achievement--including ACT composite and SAT test scores above state and national averages. In recent years, LHS has graduated a National Merit Scholar, 5 National Merit Commended Scholars and 2 National National Merit Hispanic Scholars. In fact, 98 percent of students graduating from LHS go on to universities across the country, and those who receive scholarships average $20,00 per award.
Our academic program exceeds the standards outlined by the TEA. The LHS core and elective curriculum is extensive, and in most subjects, students may participate in regular, honors, advanced placement (AP) and dual credit courses. Typically most students will carry a full academic schedule during an eight-period school day. An iPad for each student and small class sizes allow for personalized attention and instruction.
A host of extra-curricular activities and athletic programs encourage student participation outside of a formal setting and enable them to develop self-confidence, refine personal talents and socialize together through service to others.
We continuously develop and maintain a wide range of extra-curricular activities and athletics to accomodate varying student interests, as well as a range of clubs and service organizations that enhance our co-curricular programs.
